Hailey Cowan tried to drag Nora Cornolle to the ground in the UFC 314 opener Saturday – and she paid the price for it. While Cowan (7-4 MMA, 0-2 UFC) was successful with her takedowns early, Cornolle (9-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) submitted her with a rear-naked choke after a botched throw attempt. The stoppage came at the 1:52 mark of Round 2 in their women’s bantamweight battle at Kaseya Center. After the fight, she called for a clash with Ailin Perez. The victory bounced her back from a split decision loss to Jacqueline Cavalcanti in September.
