Filed under: Featured , News , WSOF Nick Newell Nick Newell recently signed a new four-fight contract with WSOF. His plan for that deal is simple: start collecting some heads and earn a second shot at the WSOF lightweight title. Newell’s (11-1) first shot at that belt did not go well. This past July, lightweight champion Justin Gaethje bloodied the 28-year-old Newell on his way to a second-round TKO victory in WSOF 11’s main event. It was Newell’s first defeat since his amateur MMA debut in 2008. Between those two defeats Newell put together a 13-fight winning streak with a pair of amateur wins and a successful launch to his pro run.
