Despite entering the fight as a 4-1 favorite, WSOF heavyweight champion Blagoy Ivanov was pushed to the very limit by a courageous Josh Copeland , though he would retain his belt with an incredibly hard-fought decision win. The thrilling contest served as the headlining bout of Friday’s WSOF 31 event, which took place at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., and aired on NBCSN. The two fighters stayed at range to start, with both men pumping jabs to establish range. As they came closer, Ivanov began to fire in big left hands that landed on the mark. Copeland weathered the shots and fired back, opening a big cut on the right side of Ivanov’s forehead.
