WSOF lightweight Melvin Guillard thinks someone is looking out for him and his wife, and by the looks of his car, he’s right. Guillard (31-13-2), who is scheduled to make his promotional debut next month at WSOF 11, posted a photo of his wrecked car on Wednesday with the caption, “We (are) both so lucky to be alive today GOD was watching over us both yesterday! !!!!! He definitely got my attention.” The fast-handed fighter was unreachable for comment when contacted today by MMAjunkie, but WSOF matchmaker Ali Abdelaziz said Guillard is doing OK after the accident, which took place as he and his wife were headed out for dinner and a movie. Guillard is less than a month away from his July 5 bout at WSOF 11, which takes place at Ocean Center in Daytona, Fla. He faces veteran Gesias Cavalcante (18-7-1) on the NBC-televised main card. The 31-year-old Guillard, who first emerged on the national scene as a competitor on “The Ultimate Fighter 2,” was released by the UFC following a lackluster decision loss to Michael Johnson at UFC Fight Night 37, which brought his recent record to 2-5 with one no-contest. Once in the running for a title shot with five straight wins, Guillard faltered in late 2011 and then bounced from camp to camp, moving from Greg Jackson’s famed academy to Florida’s Blackzilians to Denver’s Grudge Training Academy and, finally, Florida’s American Top Team
