Next year, Lauzon will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of his 48-second knockout win over former lightweight champion Jens Pulver at UFC 63 – at the time a shocking upset, and the first of Lauzon’s post-fight bonus awards in the UFC. (He’s now the record-holder.) Still working full-time and fresh out of school when he beat Pulver, Lauzon allowed himself to daydream about other potential great matchups after the win. “When I first fought Pulver, I thought, ‘Man, it would be cool to fight Gomi one day,’” Lauzon told MMAjunkie. “So it’s kind of cool to have this nine years later coming about.
