Bellator’s interim lightweight champion, Will Brooks , is monitoring Twitter by the hour to see what his fate holds. “Immediately when I wake up, I turn into a social media zombie,” he today told MMAjunkie. Brooks figures he’ll find out his next opponent online, where, this morning, he read that Bellator MMA’s undisputed lightweight champ, Eddie Alvarez (25-3 MMA, 9-1 BMMA), thinks the next action item should be to unify the titles. The news comes just days after Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney said Alvarez’s contract could force a third meeting with ex-champ Michael Chandler (12-1 MMA, 9-1 BMMA), whom Brooks (13-1 MMA, 5-1 BMMA) upset this past weekend at Bellator 120, though he added the fighter can choose his next opponent. Alvarez told BloodyElbow.com he would, in fact, choose Brooks because the fighter deserves the opportunity to fight him after beating Chandler.
