LONDON – One fight into his career at flyweight, Brad Pickett is ready to reach the pinnacle. Even though the former featherweight and bantamweight – who even fought once at lightweight – said he didn’t have one of his best outings, he apparently would be just fine moving right into a title shot at 125 pounds. Pickett (24-8 MMA, 4-3 UFC) on Saturday took a unanimous decision from Neil Seery (13-10 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on the main card of UFC Fight Night 37 at O2 Arena in his home city of London. It was his debut in the weight class, and in the UFC’s thinnest division, it doesn’t take much to make an impression and get a crack at champion Demetrious Johnson. That’s exactly what Pickett asked for in his post-event interview, which streamed on UFC Fight Pass. He said he’d gladly take a title shot – and even suggested he and Johnson first serve as coaches on an upcoming season of “The Ultimate Fighter.” Earlier in the week, UFC President Dana White was asked if one win for Pickett would be enough to get him a title shot
