But when the call came, Merritt admits he was in a little bit of shock. Visa issues forced 12 fighters off of tonight’s UFC Fight Night 70 card, leaving the UFC scrambling for options. Merritt, who most recently fought for RFA, would be one of the beneficiaries of the UFC’s dire position. It was RFA President Ed Soares who was able to deliver the good news to Merritt. “He gave me a phone call, and it was, ‘Hey, would you like to fight in the UFC?’” Merritt told MMAjunkie Radio
