In a sport like mixed martial arts which is either filled with the highest of highs or plagued with the lowest of lows, respect between two high-level competitors always stands out above all. Tensions were high and both men exchanged words in the build-up to UFC 294 but it was all respect between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski once the fight came to an end. After falling to defeat for just the second time in his career inside the octagon, Volkanovski took some time out of his schedule to go and congratulate the reigning lightweight king.
