Filed under: Featured , News , UFC With two big upsets to start his UFC career, Volkan Oezdemir now has his biggest matchup yet. Officials today announced Oezdemir (14-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC), who’s fresh off a UFC Fight Night 109 upset win over surging Misha Cirkunov (13-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC) this past weekend, is slated to meet Jimi Manuwa (17-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) at UFC 214. UFC 214 takes place July 29 at Honda Center in Anaheim. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized. Oezdemir and Manuwa will also be on standby if something happens to UFC 214’s main event: a long-awaited rematch and title fight between champion Daniel Cormier (19-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) and ex-titleholder Jon Jones (22-1 MMA, 16-1 UFC). Manuwa would likely have first dibs, but he or Oezdemir could be an option as a late replacement for the headliner if needed.
