If his first performance was any indication, it was a wise idea. At April’s UFC on FOX 19 event, Dodson took on longtime veteran Manny Gamburyan (15-9 MMA, 6-7 UFC). After a brief feeling-out process, Dodson proved both his power and speed will translate to 135 pounds, as he unleashed a rapid-fire flurry of strikes to ends the fight in just 37 seconds. Dodson (18-7 MMA, 7-2 UFC) returns to action against John Lineker (28-7 MMA, 9-2 UFC) in the headlining bout of UFC Fight Night 96, which takes place Saturday at Moda Center in Portland, Ore. The main card airs on FS1 following prelims on FS2 and UFC Fight Pass.
