Cody Garbrandt is back in a big way. The former UFC bantamweight champion had a vintage performance Saturday in the co-main event of UFC 250, capped off by a “Knockout of the Year” contender. Garbrandt (12-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) knocked out long-time contender Raphael Assuncao with one second remaining in the second round to snap a three-fight skid that had many questioning Garbrandt’s future in the UFC. The finish shocked the MMA community, as it’s one of the most brutal knockouts this year. It also marked Garbrandt’s firth finish in his UFC career.
