UFC welterweight Hector Lombard knows he is in for a difficult fight with Jake Shields at UFC 171, but that doesn’t concern him in the slightest. Lombard (33-4-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC) is slated to face Shields (29-6-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) in a featured bout at UFC 171 next March in Dallas. The event goes down from American Airlines Arena and airs on pay-per-view with preliminary action expected to air on FOX Sports 1 and to stream on UFC Fight Pass. The former Bellator MMA middleweight champion made a thunderous statement in his 170-pound debut last year, knocking out onetime UFC title challenger Nate Marquardt less than two minutes into the opening round. It seemed Lombard’s drop to the 170-pound weight class was overdue, but now he’ll find out if it’s where he truly belongs, as he’ll get a stern test in the form of Shields, a former champion of the now-defunct Strikeforce organization
