When Sean Spencer looks above his name on the UFC 171 fight card, he sees a number of fellow welterweights who are garnering far more pre-event attention. But in the first FOX Sports 2-televised preliminary-card bout at Saturday’s event, Spencer (11-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) hopes to upset heavy favorite Alex Garcia (11-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and steal some spotlight from the other high-profile 170-pound bouts. However, is this all too much, too soon for Spencer? “It’s never too soon,” he said. “I fight in the UFC for a reason. Of course you’re going to have a little bit of a comparison with [other fighters], but I try not to look too much into that.
