Joanna Jedrzejczyk ’s title reign was historic on more than one front. Not only did Jedrzejczyk (16-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) become the first-ever Polish champion in the company’s history, along with the first female European UFC title holder, when she took the title from Carla Esparza back 2015, but she went on to set more records. Jedrzejczyk’s championship reign extended from early 2015 to late 2017, as she defended her belt in dominant fashion five consecutive times. During that span, Jedrzejczyk defeated Jessica Andrade, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Claudia Gadelha, Valerie Letourneau and Jessica Penne.
