In an interview with Combate, Correia (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) took plenty of shots at UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey (11-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC), but crossed the line in many eyes when she suggested Rousey not kill herself should she lose the title in their UFC 190 main event in August. Rousey’s father committed suicide when she was 8 years old. Rousey responded on Twitter, saying, “Suicide is no joke or selling point. My father will be with me the day I hand you the comeuppance you deserve.” Correia then apologized and said didn’t know about Rousey’s father. In Brazil for UFC Fight Night 67, where she’s a special guest for a Q&A session today, Correia said she knew Rousey’s father died when she was young, but didn’t know it was by suicide.
