While it was a quiet weekend for MMA in the U.S., Fight Nights Global hosted an event in Russia and saw flyweight Ali Bagautinov suffer a shocking defeat. Tyson Nam (15-8-1) upset Bagautinov (14-6) with a high-kick knockout that came with just one second left in the Fight Nights Global 64 matchup, sending “Puncher” tumbling in the flyweight rankings. Meanwhile, Nam – who has gone unbeaten in his past four appearances – clawed his way into the honorable mentions in the latest edition of the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA rankings. Take a look at the changes to the flyweight division as we prepare for another relatively light weekend on the MMA schedule – though UFC 211 on May 13 certainly promises to offer some opportunities for movement in several divisions.
