UFC releases veteran featherweight Steven Siler

After a rough patch followed a promising UFC start, featherweight Steven Siler  is no longer on the UFC roster. Siler recently announced his release on Twitter while thanking UFC officials and promising an eventual return: I wanna thank @ufc @danawhite @seanshelby for everything, I will be back in the ufc soon im still not done yet — Steven Siler (@Stevesiler) October 16, 2014 Siler (23-13 MMA, 5-4 UFC), a 27-year-old Californian who fights out of The Pit Elevated in Utah, entered the UFC via “The Ultimate Fighter 14″ in 2011 with substantial pro experience. From 2007-2010, the fighter, who opened his pro career with a 5-7 mark, rebounded with a 13-1 stretch that included a regional-show title. The lone defeat came to now-top UFC contender Chad Mendes at a 2009 Tachi Palace Fights show.
