JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Twenty-one of the 22 fighters set for action took to the scale at the host hotel ahead of UFC on ESPN 8, with each and every athlete hitting their contracted weight. Heavyweight main eventer Walt Harris (13-7 MMA, 6-6 UFC) was the first man on the scale as he weighed in with a pound and a half to spare (264.5) for his five-round headliner against Alistair Overeem (45-18 MMA, 10-7 UFC), who came in at 253.5 pounds. Former lightweight contender Edson Barboza (20-8 MMA, 14-8 UFC) had no apparent issues making featherweight as he tipped the scale at 145.5 pounds for his bout with rising contender Dan Ige (13-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC), who weighed 146, while fellow featherweights Marlon Vera (17-5-1 MMA, 9-4 UFC) and Song Yadong (15-4-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) both came in at 145.5 pounds for their main card opener.
