In case there was any doubt going into Saturday night, there can be none now: Leon Edwards is one of the world’s truly elite welterweights. The native of Birmingham, England, was put on the slow path to success in the UFC, grinding away on undercards and “Fight Nights.” But at UFC on ESPN 4, Edwards (18-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) showed a national television audience exactly what he can do. Edwards dominated one of the game’s toughest customers in former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos . The judges’ scores were 50-45, 49-46, 49-6 for a unanimous decision, as Roberts won his eighth consecutive fight and his 10th out of his past 11. He then asked to fight Jorge Masvidal, with whom he had a backstage altercation earlier this year at UFC London. “My eighth straight victory in one of the toughest divisions in the sport,” Edwards said in his post-fight interview.
