Filed under: Featured Videos , News , UFC , Videos ROTTERDAM, Netherlands – Gunnar Nelson said he doesn’t feel the need to complicate things ahead of Sunday’s UFC Fight Night 87 showdown against Albert Tumenov. At its the core, the matchup pits Nelson (14-2-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC), a grappling expert, against Tumenov (17-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC), a strong standup fighter who has called himself the best striker in MMA . The entirety of each man’s skill set will come into play in the octagon, but Nelson doesn’t necessarily feel he has to get the fight to the ground in order to win. “There’s always a lot more to it, but it can also be even simpler: Basically it’s two martial artists coming in with their own kind of energy, and how that energy matches and how mine deals with his, and vice versa, that’s the real match,” Nelson told MMAjunkie. “Sometimes you can get lost in just the technical battle, but there is a lot more than a technical battle in there. But that definitely exists and it cannot be overlooked.” UFC Fight Night 87 takes place Ahoy Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
