In the main event, former heavyweight champion Frank Mir (18-10 MMA, 16-10 UFC) meets former interim title challenger Mark Hunt (11-10-1 MMA, 6-4-1 UFC), who is a longtime Australia resident fighting in front of his home fans for the third straight time. Mir weighed in first and came in at 260 pounds. Hunt was two pounds under the heavyweight max at 264. In the co-main event, another longtime Australia resident, Hector Lombard (34-4-1 MMA, 3-2 UFC), returns after a suspension to meet Neil Magny (17-4 MMA, 10-3 UFC), who has won nine of his past 10 welterweight fights.
