Thomas Almeida SAO PAULO – Anthony Birchak came at the undefeated Thomas Almeida like he had nothing to lose, and for a few moments, he didn’t look so much like the underdog he was pegged to be. But after taking shot after accurate shot from Almeida (21-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC), Birchak (12-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) withered late in the first round, setting up a highlight-reel knockout. The bantamweight bout was part of the main card of today’s UFC Fight Night 77 event at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
