Filed under: News , UFC Douglas Silva PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil – As tired as Douglas Silva was by the end of the third round, he didn’t let it deter him from firing one punch after another at an increasingly desperate Cody Gibson . After the final horn sounded and the judges had their say, it was precisely that brand of relentless attack that they rewarded, handing Silva (23-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) the unanimous-decision victory (28-28, 30-27, 29-28) over Gibson (12-6 MMA, 1-3 UFC). The bantamweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 61 event at Gigantinho Gymnasium in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following an additional prelim on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on FOX Sports 1. Silva’s victory was, as much as anything, a triumph of counter-fighting and an indefatigable offense. With Gibson pressing forward in the early rounds, switching stances and flicking out jabs as he backed down Silva, it was up to Silva to choose when and where to plant his feet and fire back.
