BOSTON – In the battle of the big right hands, Joby Sanchez seemed to have just a little more pop on his punches, which made all the difference in a close three-round fight against a game Tateki Matsuda . Even when Sanchez (7-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) was being outlanded in the early going, it was his power that planted Matsuda (10-7 MMA, 0-2 UFC) on the floor at key moments, helping to earn him a split decision victory (29-28, 28-29, 30-27) when all was said and done. The flyweight bout kicked off today’s UFC Fight Night 59 event at Boston’s TD Garden. It was the first of two preliminary bouts streamed on UFC Fight Pass ahead of preliminary and main-card bouts on FOX Sports 1.
