AUSTIN, Texas – James Vick ‘s meeting with  Nick Hein was largely decided over his ability to control distance. Although Vick (8-0 MMA 3-0 UFC) stumbled early in the fight, he recovered in later rounds and used his range to earn a unanimous decision on the judges’ scorecards, bringing Hein (11-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) his first octagon defeat. The lightweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 57 event at Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. It aired on FOX Sports following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on FOX Sports 1. One judge dubiously gave Vick all three rounds despite Hein knocking him to the canvas on two occasions, while the remaining two judges gave him two of three rounds for a 30-27, 29-28, 29-28 win. Since falling short on “The Ultimate Fighter 15,” Vick remains undefeated in his pro and UFC career
