SYDNEY – Robert Whittaker and Clint Hester made it all of a few seconds before squaring off and trying to take each others’ heads off with heavy power punches. That proved to be a sign of things to come, as what followed was a brutal display of power and resiliency that only ended after Whittaker (13-4 MMA, 4-2 UFC) followed up a damaging knee in the clinch with a barrage of punches that left Hester (11-4 MMA, 4-1 UFC) helpless against the fence, forcing a stop due to TKO at 2:43 of Round 2. The middleweight bout was part of the main card of today’s UFC Fight Night55 event at Allphones Arena in Sydney. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass. The first significant strikes of this fight came almost immediately, with Hester at first appearing to get the better of the striking exchanges.
