UFC welterweight Rick Story (17-8 MMA, 10-6 UFC) returned to Arizona’s The Lab to prepare for grappling sensation Gunnar Nelson (13-0-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC) by going “back to the basics.” To hear Story tell it, his camp wasn’t about learning any new sweeps, trips or guard passes, but focusing on the ones he already knows. The way he and his coaches see it, there’s nothing he’s going to figure out now that is going to make some magical difference in his headliner at UFC Fight Night 53 on Saturday at Stockholm’s Ericsson Globe. “Just being athletic, and using athleticism and technique to get in the position I want to be,” Story told MMAjunkie Radio. In other words, it’s simple: Either Nelson is going to get Story to the ground, or Story is going to stop him before he can. “I really think it is (as easy as that),” Story said.
