BRASILIA, Brazil – Gleison Tibau (30-10 MMA, 15-8 UFC) used his size, his strength, and his takedowns to eke out a win over Piotr Hallmann (15-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28) victory after three close rounds in a messy meat grinder of a fight. The lightweight bout was the co-main event of today’s UFC Fight Night 51 event at Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass. These two didn’t make it easy on the judges at cageside. Every round was a close one, with Hallmann looking for room to get his striking game going and Tibau suffocating him in the clinch and on the mat, at times slamming the Polish fighter with big takedowns that seemed to sap no small amount of energy from Tibau.
