UFC Fight Night 50: Jacare vs. Mousasi started off kind of slow with several bouts going to decision, but it finished with a bang, as the post-fight awards and accompanying $50,000 bonuses all went to main card fighters at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. With his third-round submission of fellow Top-10 fighter Gegard Mousasi, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza staked his claim to one of the night’s Performance of the Night bonuses. Having lost to Mousasi several years ago in Japan, Jacare took the fight to his friend in the rematch, besting him on the feet and on the mat, eventually finishing the Dutch fighter with a guillotine choke. The other Performance of the Night bonus was another no-brainer, as Ben Rothwell ate a few knees and kicks to start his fight with Alistair Overeem, only to land his patented overhand right to the temple. He sent Overeem crashing to the canvas and then finished him off with several more right hands for a first-round TKO stoppage and a $50,000 bonus.
