DUBLIN – Trevor Smith (11-5 MMA, 1-2 UFC) and Tor Troeng (16-5-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) spent 15 minutes wrestling for momentum in close quarters, slogging through a grinder of a fight. It wasn’t a thrilling affair, but Smith managed to win the later rounds by staying in control and doing damage from dominant positions. The middleweight bout was part of today’s UFC Fight Night 46 preliminary card at The O2 in Dublin. The entire event streamed on UFC Fight Pass. The final scores were unanimously 29-28 for Smith, who got back in the winner’s circle after a first-round TKO loss to onetime title challenger Thales Leites at April’s UFC Fight Night 39 event. Smith wanted to take down the fight early, but he found himself ensnared in Troeng’s impressive clinch, which he used to land a series of energy-sapping knees to the body
