CINCINNATI – Kyoji Horiguchi (13-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) hit Darrell Montague (13-4 MMA, 0-2 UFC) with everything but a paternity suit, and still “The Mongoose” hung tough in a losing effort, as the Japanese fighter claimed a unanimous decision victory (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after a dominating three-round performance. The flyweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 40 event at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati. It aired on FOX Sports 2 following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of the main card on FOX Sports 1. Montague managed to keep it close for all of one round, but in the second, Horiguchi took over, pummeling his foe with lunging attacks and punishing body shots. Montague seemed on the verge of being finished several times in that second frame, and ended the round staggering back in the direction of his corner looking like he might collapse at any moment
