NATAL, Brazil – Hans Stringer did just enough to squeak by Francimar Barroso in his UFC debut, notching a split-decision victory (28-29, 29-28, 29-28) despite a hostile crowd and a hard-hitting opponent. The light heavyweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 38 event Ginasio Nelio Dias in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following an additional prelim on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on FOX Sports 1. Stringer got off to a good start in the first, dropping Barroso with a right hand behind the ear and then tenderizing him with elbows from inside the guard for much of the opening frame. Barroso would rebound in the second, however, nabbing a takedown of his own and at one point blasting the Dutch fighter with an uppercut that would have dropped most fighters. But Stringer held strong and kept the pressure on down the stretch, and in the end it was just enough to win the fight on two of the three scorecards, much to the dismay of the local crowd
