Tavares outworked Larkin for the majority of three rounds, earning scores of 29-28, 29-28 and 29-28 from the judges. Larkin looked light on the feet early on, throwing a combination of strikes with punches and kicks. Tavares stayed calm as his opponent showed quickness, and countered with combinations that landed significant strikes. Tavares secured Larkin’s back before the end of the first round, finishing the time period on the ground with short strikes to the head.
