Following a brutal beatdown at UFC Fight Night 125, Priscila Cachoeira is facing a six-month medical suspension. Cachoeira (8-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC), who was submitted by Valentina Shevchenko (15-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) in the event’s co-headliner , needs clearance from an orthopedist. If she’s cleared, she’s suspended 45 days with 30 days no contact, according to medical suspensions released today by CABMMA, which regulated the fight card at Mangueirinho Gymnasium in Belem, Para, Brazil. After the fight, Cachoeira coach Gilliard Parana revealed the UFC newcomer had suffered a torn ACL and meniscus in her first skirmish with Shevchenko. Cachoeira later defended Parana against criticism over not throwing in the towel when it became apparent the fight was no longer competitive. Most of the anger, however, was directed at referee Mario Yamasaki, who allowed Cachoeira to take dozens of unanswered blows and missed her initial tap to a rear-naked choke in the second round
