UFC champion Jon Jones has apologized for the injury that recently forced a rescheduling of his title fight with Daniel Cormier, and he said he’s set to undergo surgery on Thursday. Jones (20-1 MMA, 14-1 UFC), who was slated to Cormier (15-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) on Sept. 27 in UFC 178’s pay-per-view headliner, instead will meet his rival on Jan. 3 at UFC 182. As MMAjunkie reported Tuesday, Jones suffered a torn meniscus and a sprained ankle during a wrestling practice, and UFC officials were forced to reschedule the Las Vegas fight while also shuffling the UFC 177 and UFC 178 lineups .
