Most of the time we never really know what fighters are getting paid. Due to policy in each state’s commissions, the formerly public information is now private. But in Utah, it’s a bit different. According to MMA manager Alex Davis , fighters were given the option to keep their paychecks private, and most of the fighters at UFC 291 did. But of those who didn’t, there were four. CJ Vergara made $60,000, Gabriel Bonfim made $24,000, Bobby Green made $300,000, and Kevin Holland made $357,000, the most of the four disclosed. “The athletes… have expressed valid concerns regarding the public disclosure of the compensation amount in bout agreements because public disclosure of their purse amounts will negatively impact their individual ability to negotiate compensation or purse amounts for future events,” PSUAC executive director Scott Bowler wrote in a statement to MMA Junkie . It will be interesting to see if other commissions follow suit in the coming months.
