Yoel Romero came in three pounds heavy on his first weigh-in attempt for his UFC 221 championship headliner, and he didn’t do much better on his second. The weigh-ins, which served as the official and ceremonial ones (there were no early weigh-ins), took place at Perth Area in Australia, which also hosts Saturday’s pay-per-view event. Romero (12-2 MMA, 8-1 UFC), who meets former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold (16-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC), weighed 188 pounds – three pounds over the 185-pound limit for the interim title fight – on his first attempt. He had two additional hours to make weight, but just before the headline, he dropped little more and weighed 187.7 (via Twitter ): https://t.co/wBTcp3hOfI — Submission Radio (@SubmissionAus) February 10, 2018 Rockhold comfortably made weight and tipped the scale at 185. He then had an exchange with Romero (via Twitter ): Yoel Romero weighs in at 188 (!) and things get spicy at the face-off between Romero and Luke Rockhold! #UFC221 https://t.co/EuGiqVpiJE — FOX Sports: UFC (@UFCONFOX) February 10, 2018 Rockhold is still eligible to win the belt.
