TORONTO – It wasn’t an easy night of work for Dustin Ortiz , but after grinding it out for three rounds against a very tough Zach Makovsky , it was a successful one. Ortiz (16-6 MMA, 5-4 UFC) put his grappling and his cardio to work in order to claim the win over Makovsky (19-8 MMA, 3-4 UFC) via split-decision victory in a close, gritty battle. The flyweight bout opened up the preliminary card of today’s UFC 206 event at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass ahead of additional prelims on FS1 and a main card on pay-per-view. While Makovsky often sacrificed position while going for submissions when the fight hit the floor, Ortiz was patient when he needed to be, yet appropriately urgent in the many positional scrambles throughout the bout.
