LAS VEGAS – Ex-champ Johny Hendricks entered his bout with Kelvin Gastelum at a deficit, having already fought and lost against the scale in yet another struggle with weight. After a few minutes with a fresher Gastelum (12-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC), Hendricks (17-5 MMA, 12-5 UFC) faded one jab-cross at a time as he tried to keep his opponent’s relentless pace. In the end, he just couldn’t make up the gap, losing a unanimous decision. The catchweight bout (Hendricks missed the welterweight limit) was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC 200 event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on pay-per-view.
