Kevin Lee LAS VEGAS – Kevin Lee had to dig deep down the stretch against Efrain Escudero , but when he needed it most his wrestling was there for him. Lee (12-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) used a well-timed takedown in the final round of a close fight to edge out a narrow victory over Escudero (24-11 MMA, 5-7 UFC), using his ground game to secure a unanimous decision victory by scores of 29-28 from all three judges. The lightweight bout opened up the preliminary card of today’s UFC 197 event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass ahead of additional prelims on FOX Sports 1 and a main card on pay-per-view. Lee got off to a quick start, using his speed advantage to put Escudero on the defensive early under a barrage of jabs and kicks in the opening minutes of the fight. But when Escudero found his rhythm and range, he began to fire back with success, stinging Lee with sneaky jabs and looping right hands
