However, a takedown in Round 5 of the bout led to a rear naked choke and a championship victory for Tate (18-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC), who put Holm (10-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) to sleep at the 3:30 mark of Round 5. The women’s bantamweight title bout was the co-main event of today’s UFC 196 event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. Holm used her striking to control the action for much of the fight, but Tate’s controlling top game in Round 2 had her wary of fully committing to her attack.
