MELBOURNE, Australia – Valerie Letourneau acquitted herself well when challenging for Joanna Jedrzejczyk ’s UFC strawweight title, but ultimately she was no match for the champion’s speed and striking skill. After five grueling rounds, the proof was written all over the swollen, bloody face of Letourneau (8-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC), as Jedrzejczyk (11-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) retained her title via unanimous decision victory (49-46, 49-46, 50-45). The women’s strawweight title bout was the co-main event of today’s UFC 193 event at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
