LAS VEGAS – In a second straight all-timer, Conor McGregor won the UFC’s interim featherweight title with a late second-round TKO of Chad Mendes. McGregor (18-2 MMA, 6-0 UFC) struggled with Mendes’ (17-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) takedowns in a major way – confirming the suspicions of many of his critics that he would struggle against a wrestler. But after being on his back much of the second round, McGregor got back to his feet and took it to Mendes, finishing him with a TKO and a flurry of punches with three seconds left in the second round. The interim featherweight title bout was the main event of today’s UFC 189 event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas
