The event took place at Mexico City Arena. The same venue hosts Saturday’s pay-per-view event. UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez (13-1 MMA, 11-1 UFC) and interim champ Fabricio Werdum (19-5-1 MMA, 7-2 UFC) kept it professional, despite the tension that’s built between them through the week. Meanwhile, lightweights Eddie Alvarez (25-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and Gilbert Melendez (22-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC) boiled over as they met face to face.
