Tyron Woodley LAS VEGAS – For a man who didn’t exactly look like he wanted to be there, Kelvin Gastelum put forth an admirable effort against Tyron Woodley . Still, it wasn’t enough in the eyes of two of the three judges, as Woodley (15-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) rode a powerful right hand and an elusive stand-up style to a split decision victory (29-28, 28-29, 30-27) over the previously unbeaten Gastelum (10-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) The catchweight bout (Gastelum missed weight) was the co-main event of today’s UFC 183 event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. Rumors about Gastelum’s health abounded coming into this fight, with questions as to whether he’d been hospitalized with an illness, or just undone by a poor weight cut.
