SACRAMENTO – After a tentative first round, Anthony Hamilton (13-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) picked up the pace and his first UFC win after Ruan Potts (8-3 MMA, 0-2 UFC) was out of steam in the second round. Potts was helpless to stop an avalanche of shots to the body and forced referee intervention in the second frame. The heavyweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC 177 card at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento. It aired on FOX Sports 1 ahead of a main card on pay-per-view. After Chris Wade’s exhilarating submission of Cain Carrizosa, Hamilton didn’t exactly wow the crowd with his gameplan, which consisted of catching Potts’ kicks and depositing him to the mat, only to let his fellow heavyweight stand. Boos accompanied his work.
