LAS VEGAS – The first time Jamie Varner ’s ankle rolled up awkwardly beneath him, it seemed like a minor problem. The second and third times it happened, it seemed like it would hand James Krause the win. As Varner (21-10-1 MMA, 3-5 UFC) sat on the mat at the end of the first, it was clear that Krause (20-5 MMA, 1-1 UFC) would get the win due to an injury TKO, though not before Varner proved his toughness and Krause demonstrated his promise. The lightweight fight opened today’s UFC 173 main card at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass
