Overeem paced himself throughout the contest, earning the judges’ nod with scores of 30-27 across the board. “Usually I always go for the knockout,” Overeem said in his post-fight interview, adding, “but this fight I chose to pace myself a little bit.” After a feeling-out process, Overeem landed a knee to the head that grounded Mir.
