All eyes were on the Canadian going into the organization’s debut event in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and “Ares” delivered the goods as he picked Saffiedine apart for the first two rounds and landed a perfect uppercut in the third for the finish. MacDonald was gunning for a title shot going into the fight, and he certainly made a strong argument to face the winner of UFC 181’s welterweight championship bout between titleholder Johny Hendricks and No. 1 contender Robbie Lawler.
